Unstoppable Parents: A Month-Long Celebration of Families & Reunification

June is National Reunification Month, a month-long celebration of the year-round work, commitment, and investment of time and resources by parents, family members, social workers, foster parents, service providers, attorneys, courts, and the community to reunify children with their families and provide them with a solid foundation for personal growth, development and maturity. 

Throughout the month of June Citrus Family Care Network, in collaboration with system of care and community partners, will be conducting a series of events in commemoration of National Reunification Month, as well as recognizing families who have successfully been reunified.

Below is a schedule of events for our 2021 Reunification Month Celebration.  Our theme is Unstoppable Parents.

Virtual activities are taking place throughout June every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

  • Tuesday, June 1 - Family Presentation-Meet Leniqua

  • Thursday, June 3 - LIVE Training-Human Trafficking- Maria Clara-Harrington and Yinay Ruiz from Citrus will be providing a training on Human Trafficking: Signs to watch out for and what services are available in the community for parents.

  • Monday, June 7 - Family Presentation- Meet Amanda

  • Tuesday, June 8 - Community Resource Presentation

    Aunt Bertha by Dr. Beverly Jean-Jacques from Citrus

  • Thursday, June 10 - LIVE Training-Parenting During A Pandemic (In Creole, English and Spanish)

    Be Strong International will provide training on Parenting During A Pandemic\ In this workshop, parents are introduced to the five key principles of Parenting During a Pandemic. These principles are:

  1. Handling Your Child’s Emotions
  2. Working from Home and Home Schooling
  3. Time Management
  4. Resources for Building a Creative Learning Environment
  5. Creating a Schedule
  • Monday, June 14 - Family Presentation-Meet William

  • Tuesday, June 15 - LIVE Community Resource Presentation: EatWellExchange

  • Thursday, June 17 - LIVE Training-Raising Resilient Children (In Creole, English and Spanish)

    Be Strong International will provide training on Raising Resilient Children In this workshop, parents are introduced to six core building blocks for children to manage their feelings and become resilient in dealing with life stress. These competencies are:

  1. Recognizing and accepting feelings
  2. Expressing feelings appropriately
  3. Building a positive outlook
  4. Developing coping skills
  5. Dealing with negative feelings
  6. Dealing with stressful life events
  • Monday, June 21 - Family Presentation-Meet Mikesha

  • Tuesday, June 22 - Community Resource Presentation: Mindfulness

    The m*ergy Experience will be presenting a Breath/Movement/Mindfulness interactive training program.

  • Thursday, June 24 - LIVE Training: Financial Literacy for Adults

  • Saturday June 26 at 11:00 a.m. – LIVE VIRTUAL CELEBRATION HONORING FAMILIES

    Join us on Zoom to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of parents who have worked hard to overcome obstacles and become stronger for their children and families.

  • Monday, June 28 - Family Presentation-Meet Tamber

  • Wednesday, June 30 - LIVE Community Resource Presentation: “Nothing About Us, Without Us : Child Welfare Peers” by Allison Schild
